I am an educator/artist based in Orange County. After completing my teaching program at Cal State Long Beach, I have taught a wide range of art classes in multiple schools. Working with a wide range of demographics combined with experiences in both the public and charter school system has helped me develop a versatile teaching style that focuses on student decision making.
Beliefs
Education is an opportunity to discover who we are and what we want to do. Art is an opportunity to experience something different or to challenge who we are and what we believe. Within the world of education, art has been seen as an extra or "easy" class. This is something that I believe needs to change. Art can be someone's freedom, safe space, or door to new experiences. Art is becoming more of a part of our lives than most people realize and art in school should be viewed as such.
The way to change the world is to inspire, challenge, and believe.
Art
The artwork that I make is mostly for student demo's. I like to make art that challenges my student's perceptions and to inspire them to try a new technique or idea. I take my students interests and adapt them as a way to show that I am interested in who they are. I use them as talking pieces to get them to open up. I have found that many students have not had the opportunity to learn about art or how art is present in their every day lives unless they have taken an art class in high school. My art is a demonstration of possibilities by going just a little further than the expectations I have for them. This is demonstrated in my diverse samples of art.
